Upcycled Tshirt Scarf!

Ok! First real post!

I'm pretty broke, my job is fun but not very lucrative. So I decided to make a few Christmas presents for people this year. I kept seeing tshirt scarves everywhere but couldn't really find one that was 1.) Really easy and no sew, and 2.) Actually looked good ie: not just loose strips of fabric hanging around your neck. So I decided to just come up with my own version of it!

So here you are! A really fast, easy, no sew tshirt scarf just for you!

*What you'll need*
-Scissors (preferably fabric scissors, but really as long as they can cut a tshirt they're fine)-
-A tshirt. I used an extra large one with no side seams that I got at Michaels-
-Beads. I used to wooden ones but you can use whatever you like,
just make sure you can fit a tshirt strip through them.-

Alright, ready go!

After you have your strips all cut out follow the next set of steps!

  1. Hold up all your strips so that they sit nicely together, I added a small necklace part but you don't have to if you don't want to!
  2. Lay your strips on the floor/table/whatever is flat and handy, and take your shorter strips from the upper portion of the tshirt and lay it underneath the strips.
  3. Tie the strip in a knot so that the tail bit is facing inwards. Take a second strip and do the same thing, so that the knots are a few inches apart but wrapping around in opposite directions.
  4. Start wrapping!
  5.  Take a second strip and do the same thing, so that the knots are a few inches apart but wrapping  around in opposite directions.
  6. When your strips meet in the middle tie them in a double knot.
  7. Tuck any extra fabric from your knots underneath the wrapped bit.
  8. You're done! There are no more steps!

This is how I wore mine, but really its pretty versatile and you could wear it a number of different ways!

Thanks for bearing with me on my first tutorial! Let me know if you have any questions.
